Monitoring Messaging Environments
The Messaging page provides a provider-aware view of the messaging environments registered for your organization. Use it to evaluate health, inspect queues and topics, browse messages, and perform permitted operational actions without signing in to a separate broker console.
The exact views and metrics depend on the provider's capabilities. Unsupported views are hidden rather than displayed with empty data.
Open an environment
- Open Messaging from the Studio navigation.
- Select a messaging environment.
- Review its health, provider, platform environment, and read-only state.
- Use Refresh when you need data immediately. Studio otherwise refreshes environment information periodically.
Available views
| View | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Review environment health and high-level message statistics |
| Queues | Inspect queue depth, active messages, dead-letter messages, consumers, and provider metrics |
| Topics & subscriptions | Review topics and their subscriptions |
| Connections | Inspect provider connections when inventory is supported |
| Sessions | Inspect message sessions when supported |
| Consumers | Inspect connected consumers when supported |
| Scheduled | Review scheduled messages when supported |
Select a queue, topic, or subscription to open its details and available actions.
Browse messages safely
- Select a destination.
- Choose the maximum number of messages to return.
- Select Browse messages.
- Enable Include payload body only when the payload is required and you have permission to view it.
Browsing is an explicit operation. Payload access requires a separate permission because message bodies can contain sensitive business data.
Operational actions
Actions are available only when both your permission and the provider capability allow them. An environment configured as read-only suppresses write actions even for otherwise authorized users.
Possible actions include:
- send a message;
- remove or replay selected messages;
- purge a destination;
- create a queue, topic, or subscription;
- configure provider-specific destination settings.
Review confirmation dialogs carefully, especially in Production. Purge and remove operations can be irreversible.
Create a destination
- Open Queues or Topics & subscriptions.
- Select Create destination.
- Choose the destination type and enter its name.
- For a subscription, specify the topic address.
- Configure available options such as durability, sessions, exclusivity, or maximum consumers.
- Select Create.
Only options supported by the selected provider are applied.
Troubleshooting
- Messaging is not visible: you need organization permission to view messaging environments.
- A view is missing: the provider does not advertise the required capability.
- Write actions are missing: the environment may be read-only, or your role lacks the specific send, remove, purge, or manage permission.
- Data looks stale: use Refresh and verify that the environment is reachable.
- Payloads are unavailable: confirm that you have message-payload permission and selected Include payload body.
